New here, so I figured I should introduce myself and my alter ego.
I'm Patrick, I am a long time WOD gamer and LARPer, currently I live in eastern Tennessee, and I play in a series of LARPs in Knoxville TN.
I'm 32, and even though I have been playing the WoD for the past 14 years or so, I ma very new to Changeling.
I play in the Official Camarilla Fan Club games here, mostly because they are the only group around (but, they are a good gang of players, and run a great game!).
Michael Darkpool O'Scathach, Unseelie Grump bent on revenge.
His mortal family destroyed and murdered, hounded throught the centuries by an unseem enemy who struct at those he loved, Michael has taken up the search for the mysterious foe who has ruined his life.
Working with two Eshu: Sabine Mara Pavel, a Wilder who carries a treasure the nemesis seeks, her family and gypsy caravan murdered, and Ezekial Dowden, a wilder and the son of the Seer of the local County, Michael's search for vengeance draws near to a close as the identity of their enemy becomes known.
Micahel stands about 6', he is muscular and wiry. Long raven black hair reaches down to his shoulders, his face framed with a goatee, his eyes pools of deepest black. Michael dresses for function over fashion, preferring clothing that allows him to move and fight when he needs to. From his back, two large, black, functional eagles wings help him take his fight into the air.
That's about it, feel free to hit me up if you have questions about him (I'll probably be postign questions to all of you about the Scathatch in general!). Current Mood: crazy

Just a quick question for the Scathach adept. Is Protea (the home of the Morphean Oracles) described as being in the Far or Deep Dreaming?

On the House Scathach flaw
Prompted by a discussion with one of the players in my tabletop game -
In reference to the House Scathach flaw, does a foe who either surrenders or runs away from the battle count as "defeated?" I've always run games as if that was the case, but the player I was talking to seems to believe that a Scathach in the throes of the Blood Madness wouldn't accept a surrender, and would chase after an opponent who retreated.
While I'm on the subject, how do people handle the Scathach flaw in "practice" combat (such as a Scathach knight instructing his squire in the arts of swordsmanship)? People I've talked to seem to go either way on whether practice would trigger the Blood Madness. Current Mood: curious

Heya. I'm a longtime changeling player and I just saw this group and thought I'd join. House Scathach is one of the better House concepts in Book of Lost Houses. (Yes, I know they were in Nobles: The Shining Host too.)Anyway, I'm glad to be here and just saying hello. It doesn't look like anyone's posted in awhile. Current Mood: awake

What is the name of that Circle?
Question: Now the name of the divinity cult that the Scathach belong to: is it 1) the Orphic Circle, or 2) the Morphic Circle?
It's been eating my mind. I keep getting the words confused. I know one is rived from a Greek hero who practiced oneiromancy. Current Mood: Curious

Scathach Merits and Flaws
Can anyone please post any of the Scathach merits and flaws from the Book of Lost Houses for me along with the point cost and a description of each? Current Mood: mentally stumped
The Scathach Curse
Does anyone here have any advice for playing the Scathach Curse? I've been trying to play up the bad side of it in my games (not being able to walk away from a fight is a good way to get your ass kicked), but I could use some advice on how to portray
the battle rage when I'm playing.
I usually resort to the "the look in [character]'s eyes is no longer entirely sane," or something like that, but I think that's getting a bit old in the game I'm currently playing in. Can anyone think of different ways to describe it?
Maybe I just think too much about these things.... Current Mood: contemplative

To post a character. I'm a little bit shy but here it goes. I have only two Scathach characters I have ever played. One is a recently Sained one I don't play too often, she is mostly an NPC for a game.
The other I thought to mention is a warrior with many troubles. He is usually silent and listen and act more than actually talking, but he has a very big heart and would help any person in need.
His name is Treasach and his tragedy is that he crossed the way of an Ailil Baron and was cursed as a result, in malice. I would post the words of the curse but I fear the player of his love, an adorable Satyr, may come by it and solve the curse too easily.
The curse works that if he doesn't draw blood in battle at least once a day he will be turned into a wolf during the day and only be able to live as a man in the darkness of the night. If he wants to remain as himself he has to fight and can't live a life in peace, always putting his life in danger.
Furthermore his nemesis, the Ailil Baron still seeks his destruction for reasons he doesn't know yet. It puzzles him because this curse seems to be a horrible punishment in itself...
One of the more funny episodes in this saga with Treasach and his Satyr love was when the "villain" of the story captures this wild Satyr and shaves off all her fur in the middle of the winter and leaving her to freeze...
Why The Scathach Wear No Colors
You wrote that! I'm humbled and amazed to see the author live. I'm sharing a Rhapsody story for a Leanhaun character I play on its own community.
I don't know if something like this will count as a spam... but I advertise it anyhow, because it is still related after all. I thought this community was needed, just started up. It's also a House I believe there are many debates around that can be good to discuss.. one of the more complicated Houses to actually rp, imo.http://www.livejournal.com/community/leanhaun_winter/

Maybe a dumb question, but...
has anyone here played a Scathach character with a Title? I've played numerous Scathach knights, and seen more of them in the CtD sourcebooks (I believe there's even a Scathach *countess* in Isle of the Mighty
Lately, though, I've been hearing that Scathach, due to their unique rank scale (see Book of Lost Houses
) rarely hold titles (though there is a provision for special dispensation from the Morphean Oracles).
So, do all the Scathach with titles have to receive dispensation? I'd think that the Oracles might be willing to let squires and knights slide, but that's just me....
(OK, I know
the real reason the above-mentioned characters have titles is thatthey were made up before Book of Lost Houses
came out, but I guess I'm looking for an IC reason as well) Current Mood: awake

Introductions are in order
Hello, I'm posting my thanks and gratitude for starting up a journal page run by and for devoted fans of this magnificent house. I've been playing a Scathach Sidhe baron for about two years (fall 1999 to spring 2001)before the Changeling chronicle went belly up. I've had some fun with this character and I am waiting for an opportunity to play him again.
I'll be posting here again quite frequently. So take care.
PS I've taken the liberty to use the Scathach device as my own. No hard feelings, I hope.

Must not go to bad_rpers_suck...
Or I find stuff like this
My God, is this
what playing a Scathach has come to? Some stupid twinked-out video-game reject?
My husband told me that the combat bonuses were what attracted people to playing Scathach -- I just didn't want to believe him.
*weeps at what that moron
has done to her favorite house* Current Mood: irritated

Scathach Mastery scale
x-posted to theshininghost
Can anyone tell me why a Celtic house is using what appear to be Arabic titles? I don't get it...especially when AFAIK there's no mention of them adopting Arabic ways (except for a brief mention in the original Nobles: the Shining Host
). Current Mood: confused

House Scathach fan fiction
This is a story I wrote in 1997 or thereabouts (before Book of Lost Houses: The Second Coming
came out, so it doesn't really jibe with WW's official canon), and I posted it on the web a number of years ago, but I thought the people in the community might enjoy it. Happy reading!( Why The Scathach Wear No ColorsCollapse ) Current Mood: creative

Gallery of House Scathach characters?
I'm thinking of assembling a gallery of Scathach characters to maybe put on the community website -- sort of a "Who's Who" of the House of Battle.
Anyone want to contribute? Current Mood: inspired

What kind of opinions do people have on the Arcadian Scathach from Book of Lost Houses
? I think they're rather too powerful to allow in my games (coupling their combat bonuses with the ability to use Sovereign), but that's just my opinion. Current Mood: contemplative

Scrathach mad r0x0rs.
Sorry...i had to....
Truthfully though, i was very impressed with your Scrathach society "the ravens" and have incorporated them (with a minor adjustment) into a mixed cronical of mine.
hope that's cool with you >^.^
